So it's time to leave the city and get a bit more room. Move out to the country and enjoy the lifestyle. Free of the smog and traffic, the noise and congestion. Well it all sounds great, sounds like paradise. Well I am not here to burst your bubble, living in the country can be great, but there is one thing to remember, the majority of the countryside, while beautiful, is also place where people work.
If you have made your decision to move out to the country, well I would not be the one to dissuade you. However it may be wise to think about a few things. You won’t have the convenience of modern city living. There is a good chance that a rural property owner will need to provide their own water supply and their own sewage disposal. This may mean having a well dug or collecting rain water. If there is water already in the property it may be wise to check where it is coming from and check the easements and ensure you still have permission to use it.
Gone will be the days of flushing away your problems, moving to the country will now probably mean having first hand experience dealing with your waste. You will probably need a septic tank, which have to be emptied from time to time.
If you do have to install new water and sewage systems you must check and ensure that the systems meet all standards and work. Once you are the proud owner of rural land you are then responsible for all the maintenance for your water and sewage system.
Honestly the country can be paradise, just be prepared.
